In the past decade, many farmers have installed FDE tanks. Basically, none of these tanks have been stirred since being built. Over time, all storage systems (ponds, tanks and bladders) will get an accumulation of settled solids (sludge) building up on the base of the storage.

In all reality, with synthetic liners, the easiest option of removing the sludge build up is to agitate the liquid to “mobilise” the solids enabling them to be pumped out and spread to land.

Logan recognised there were no local, easily transportable tanks stirrers available for farmers to hire so he had one built.

The 7.5m long hydraulic driven stirrer attaches to the farmer’s tractor’s front-end loader (Euro hitch) and has long hydraulic hoses that plug into the tractor’s rear remotes. The front-end loader allows the stirrer to “reach” over the top of the tank and then using the crowd action, the stirrer is lowered into the tank.

This simple design allows the stirrer to be inserted anywhere around the tank that has tractor access. Of course, the stirrer can be used in ponds too. The stirrer comes on a flat deck tandem axle trailer for easy transportation.
