Farm Infrastructure
Extensive knowledge in farm infrastructure - land drainage, effluent pond construction, paddock design and stock water systems.
With no affiliation to any component supply companies, Agblution Solutions offers fully independent advice- we don’t receive commission or “kickbacks” from anybody so, if we don’t think it’s a good idea, we won’t suggest it.
With our project management skills and industry knowledge we now offer a design and project management service for farm infrastructure construction. We will work with the clients to source the best outcome for the project. Sourcing prices from suppliers and contractors and, making sure what is on offer is fit for purpose is our main driver for the client.
Farm Drainage Design
James has been working in, managing and designing farm drainage schemes for the past 14 years.
With drainage often carrying a large capital spend, it’s vital that right from the start the design is correct, resulting in decades of improved pasture and crop performance and subsequent improved farm profitability. With Jame’s experience and attention to detail he can design a drainage system that best fits your farm.
Once the drainage project has been designed, if wanted, the installation can also be project managed by Agblution Solutions. On the farmer’s behalf, we can gather quotes from drainage contractors and supply companies, providing a drainage plan to the contractor to follow, and oversee the project to ensure the drainage contractor is meeting the plans criteria.
Effluent Pond Design and Construction
Since building his first FDE pond in 2010, James has gone on designing and managing pond builds all over the lower North Island, having now completed more than 40 ponds so he really knows his stuff!
Ponds are a lot more than a hole in the ground. They need drainage of ground water from underneath them, they need to be deep enough to ensure the excavated “middle” of the pond provides sufficient material to build the walls, they need to be structurally sound, and they must also be of sufficient volume to meet the farm’s FDE storage requirements.
We always look to use gravity to reduce both initial capital costs and ongoing running costs. With James extensive drainage knowledge and subsequent “nestling” of ponds into the landscape, we can often get ponds to “fit” on farm where others have told the farmer it’s not possible and extra pumps are needed.
Our land drainage and excavation knowledge has enabled Agblution Solutions to go looking for answers to effluent storage problems. This often means that we are actively looking for ways to build effluent ponds by completing site elevation surveys and then comparing the pond build costs with other storage options. Often, effluent ponds are the most economic form of storage- but not always, so we continually compare with other storage options, such as tanks or bladders to ensure the right storage solution is obtained for the farm.
Project Management
Having successfully managed a local rural contracting company, James knows how to make the projects happen with the best possible outcome for the client. Now working solely on the farmer’s side, he can act as an intermediary between the contractors and the farmers, and can quickly identify where efficiencies can be had with simple changes in design and implementation.
We can help design the project, source competitive quotes from reputable contractors and supervise the project ensuring it is delivered to the required quality/specification, on time and on budget!
